Nik. Schmitt & Son

Nik. Schmitt & Son

Nik. Schmitt & Son are carrying on the German tradition of quality stoneware with their Gärtopf fermenting crocks.

The fermentation process can transform the flavour of food from the plain and mundane to a mouth-puckering sourness enlivened by colonies of beneficial bacteria and enhanced micronutrients.

Nik Schmitt crocks are German quality stoneware made using liquid slurry poured clay. This process creates a stronger and lighter weight crock for easier handling. They are made to high German standards and are coated with an even brown glaze.
