The Madeo Food Company produces Cured meats in the south of Italy, Calabria, located in the foothills of Sila Greca.

Madeo’s Food Chain is ISO 9001:2008 and ISF certified (international Food Standard – Higher level.

The black pig of Calabria is a fine breed native, who has adapted perfectly in harsh environments and poor, which are precisely those of Calabria. By its very nature the black pig of Calabria can be raised in the wild and semi-wild. The black pig is in need of large spaces where it can root freely, searching for acorns, herbs and roots which constitute the main source of supply, increased by the addition of corn, barley and field beans are ground and flaked. There are few black pig farms in Calabria that can boast, among other things, as is the case for the Food Chain Madeo’s black pig of Calabria, a productive activity with low environmental impact and that link the enhancement of a species at risk of extinction.

Lines run from from the cured meats of the Black Pig of Calabria to traditional Calabrese cured meats and D.O.P.

`Nduja “the wonder ingredient” A unique product from the southern most region of Italy, Calabria. Every fridge should have some. It is being picked up amongst chefs across the world and being paraded as the “greatest discover since mozzarella”  `Nduja is a spreadable pork sausage in a plate-invading and most unique tasting ingredient, suitable for many recipes.
